The short version
- Level each weapon to earn its Military camos, then finish its 3 Special camo challenges.
- Gold: with the Special camos done, get 15 kills in a single Multiplayer match with the weapon.
- Platinum: get Gold on every weapon in that class, then finish the class's Platinum challenge.
- Harmonic Break: get Platinum on all 33 weapons, then finish each weapon's Harmonic Break challenge.
- Divergence: unlocks automatically once Harmonic Break is done on all 33 weapons.
Harmonic Break challenges by weapon class
Each class has its own Harmonic Break challenge, and every weapon in the class needs it done. These are the Multiplayer numbers; DMZ asks for more.
| Weapon class | Harmonic Break challenge |
|---|---|
| Assault rifles | 25 double kills |
| SMGs | 50 hipfire kills |
| Shotguns | 2 kills without reloading, 25 times |
| LMGs | 2 kills without releasing the trigger, 25 times |
| Marksman rifles | 75 one-shot kills |
| Sniper rifles | 75 one-shot kills |
| Pistols | 40 hipfire kills |
| Melee | 25 kills from behind |
Multiplayer or DMZ?
Camo progress is shared: a camo earned in Multiplayer is unlocked in DMZ too, and the other way round. DMZ's kill counts are higher, so most players grind the completionist camos in Multiplayer.
Divergence also opens the mastery camos, the road to Orion Reforged in Multiplayer and Helios in DMZ.
Tips to get there faster
- Don't leave your weakest weapons for last. You need all 33, so mix them in early.
- Build each loadout for the challenge in front of you. For hipfire kills, swap aim-down-sights attachments for ones that help hipfire.
- For the 15-kill Gold challenge, play modes with longer matches, like Hardpoint, so you have time to get your kills.
- Switch classes when a grind gets stale, and come back to it fresh.
- In an MW4 bot lobby the match is full of AFK players, so double kills, one-shot kills and hipfire kills come far quicker.
